‘The Russian Embassy in Damascus became a target of mortar attack during a pro-Russian rally; no one from diplomatic mission was injured,’ a member of Russian diplomatic mission told the news agency RIA Novosti.
‘Two mines fell on the territory of the Russian Embassy in Damascus. There are no victims among the embassy staff there, only material damage,’ he said.
‘Mines fell on to the place where the peaceful demonstration in support of Russia’s actions in Syria was being held. One of the mines fell near the sports club at El-Baradei, the second fell in al-Adawa leaving some people injured. The territory where the explosions happened is blocked now,’ an eyewitness claims.
Meanwhile, according to the police source, there are no injuries among rally attendees. The rally attracted more than 4 thousand people who were carrying posters and signs of the Syrian Bashar al-Assad and Vladimir Putin.
The fire was carried out from Damascus district of Dzhobar: this area mainly controlled by the groups of ‘Jaysh al-Islam’ and ‘al-Nusra Front’.
