Turkey and the USA have agreed on the application by the air force strikes against militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (ISIS) in Northern Syria. The foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, announced it on Monday in an interview with Reuters.
“Yesterday (Sunday) there were held negotiations on the technical aspects. Soon we will start a comprehensive operation against IG. It also will be able that Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Britain and France join the operation”, he said. According to the Minister, the area of strikes in North of Syria on the border with Turkey territories will be situated where previously Ankara was planning to create a security zone.
“This operation will also be a message to President Bashar al-Assad and help to put pressure on his administration, to join the negotiating table and find a political solution to the crisis,” said Cavusoglu. He also added that the Syrian Kurdish democratic Union Party (MUP) “will not be a part of their free IG zone, if not radically change its position”. The Syrian Kurds, he said, “fighting not for the territorial unity of Syria.”
