The United States bets its hegemony on the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Published on

Voltaire Network |

On 21 January, US President Donald Trump launched his “Stargate” program, with a colossal budget of 500 billion dollars. $100 billion were immediately paid, the other $400 billion will be paid in the next four years.

The project is led by OpenAI, the company that launched ChatGPT at the end of 2022, the Japanese investment firm SoftBank and the digital giant Oracle.

It aims to make artificial intelligence (AI) the “new frontier” of “America’s” development. By comparison, the EU’s investment in this area is 200 times lower; a disproportion that will quickly send the Europeans back to second place.

The United States is at the forefront of the ongoing industrial revolution. In this way, they intend to peacefully ensure their hegemony. After the creation of data centers and the competition for the manufacture of microchips, the new challenge is AI. It requires the immediate arrival of qualified engineers, probably Indian or Iranian, and the availability of disproportionate energy resources.

This program is therefore based on both a reform of legal immigration conditions and the development of oil drilling.

The United States should quickly turn away from fossil fuels and move down the path of nuclear and hydrogen, two much more powerful energy sources.
