What Next for The Anti-War Movement, with Brian Becker

Published on

Brian Becker’s commitment to social and economic justice began at a young age, shaped by his religious upbringing and his desire for fairness and equality for all people. Throughout his career, he has been a vocal critic of U.S. imperialism and the capitalist system, which he sees as inherently exploitative and oppressive. His advocacy for socialism stems from his belief that a socialist system would be more just and equitable for all people.

Becker has also been an active voice in the anti-war movement, opposing U.S. led interventions in foreign countries and advocating for peaceful negotiation as a solution to conflicts. He has been a chief organizer of nationwide protests against the endless war state for over two decades, and is considered one of the most experienced activists in the United States.

Today, he joins Behind The Headlines host Lee Camp about the history of anti-war organizing in the United States and what is in store for the anti-war movement in 2023.

In addition to his work as a political organizer, Becker is also a leading voice in progressive circles through his work as a host of the Socialist Program podcast and his roles in organizations like the Party for Socialism and Liberation and the ANSWER Coalition. Through these platforms, he advocates for various progressive causes and amplifies his message and ideas to a wider audience.

Becker’s activism is driven by his belief that a better world is possible, where social and economic justice can be achieved through peaceful means. He is opposed to war, U.S. imperialism and advocates for socialism as the alternative system for fair governance. He works tirelessly to promote his ideas and to bring about positive change in the world, making him a well-known figure in the progressive movement.

Beyond his advocacy of socialism, he is also a strong advocate of the rights of the oppressed communities. He has been a vocal advocate of the rights of the Palestinians, a stance which is not always popular in the United States. He, along with his organizations, actively support the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement which is a Palestinian-led coalition for freedom, justice and equality.

Becker is also well-known for his commitment to civil rights and the rights of the working class. He has been a proponent of labor rights and fair wages, and has advocated for policies that would improve the lives of working-class people. He sees the struggle for workers’ rights and the struggle for socialism as closely interconnected, and advocates for policies that will empower the working class.

Lee Camp is an American stand-up comedian, writer, actor and activist. Camp is the host of Behind The Headlines’ new series: The Most Censored News With Lee Camp. He is a former comedy writer for the Onion and the Huffington Post and has been a touring stand-up comic for 20 years.
