Washington Capitals have raised their championship banner after demolishing the Boston Bruins 7-0 in the first match of the new NHL season.
The Stanley Cup champions Washington Capitals finished the opener at home with a 2-0 lead after T. J. Oshie and Evgeny Kuznetsov netted the puck.
The hosts added four more goals in the middle frame to make it 6-0. Finally, Lars Eller scored the 7th for the Capitals, eight minutes into the final frame.
The Capitals will travel to Pittsburgh to play against the Penguins on Thursday.
