A Conservative party donor has called for a second referendum on Britain’s final deal with the EU to exit the bloc.

Former Rolls-Royce chairman Sir Simon Robertson made the call during an interview with the Observer, released Saturday.

“I think it is complete balderdash to say the people have spoken, therefore you can’t go back. The people can speak again – why can’t we have another vote on it,” Robertson said. “We had a brilliant deal with Europe. We had an opt-out on ever-closer union, we weren’t in the single currency and we were not in Schengen [the EU’s visa-free travel area]. We had a perfect arrangement. We are now going to end up with one where, at the end of things, we won’t have a final say.”

A no-deal Brexit will amount to an “existential threat” to the United Kingdom, says the first president of European Council, citing Scotland.

The call came as the British government was releasing details of a possible no-deal outcome.

“I’m not saying for a moment that it solves the underlying problem – which is the fact that some people have felt left behind. I think that in many ways, they have,” added the Conservative party donor.

Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union Dominic Raab has told businesses and organizations to prepare for the possibility of a no-deal Brexit amid clashes with the EU.

There is an increasing uncertainty on whether the UK could secure an agreement with the EU on its future relations with the bloc or it would simply crash out in March next year without determining how trade and other issued will be regulated.

Among other things, a no-deal Brexit could boost prospects for another independence referendum for Scotland, which voted for the UK to stay in the EU by 62 percent to 38 percent.
