Russia seeks to the restoration of full relations with Turkey, the head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin stated.
During the meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, Putin stressed that Russia and Turkey had always had unique relationship of cooperation and collaboration. The last visit of a Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan to St. Petersburg showed that both countries were looking forward to full-fledged work on the development of relations in various fields. The Russian President also thanked Nazarbayev for mediation in the strengthening of cooperation between Moscow and Ankara.
August 9, Putin met with Erdogan to discuss the crisis in relations between the two countries after the incident with the Russian Su-24 bomber. During the talks, which lasted about two hours, the presidents touched on the establishment of relations in economic and energy sectors, cooperation on Syria and other topics. Putin then stressed that Russia and Turkey held similar views in matters of fight against terrorism.
