“There are serious grounds for advancing cooperation between Russia and Iran. The integration processes between Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan will create opportunities for meeting challenges in the region,” the Iranian leader Hassan Rouhani said during a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Russia and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev.
“The signing of fundamental agreements, promotion of investments in our country, cooperation in the field of customs, the creation of a green customs corridor, cooperation in science and technology, increased cooperation between the provinces and the regions create the conditions for the jump in cooperation between the two countries (Russia and Iran),” Rouhani said.
“These grounds are even more reliable than before. We can hope for a positive future. From the point of view of Iran, cooperation between Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan in a trilateral format will not only promote the development of existing opportunities between the three countries in various fields — politics, economy, culture. Better integration can create new opportunities to face the existing challenges in the region,” Rouhani said.
He also noted that cooperation between Iran and Russia was on the path of resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and the Syrian crisis.
