Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences to the people of France and offered to join forces in the fight against the global evil.
“The cruelty and special cynicism of the crime committed on the day of your country’s national holiday is striking. We have once again seen that terrorism is absolutely alien to human morality as it claims victims among innocent civilians, including women and children,” the telegram from the Russian President to his French counterpart Francois Hollande said.
Putin also stressed out that all civilized humanity must join forces to defeat this evil and destroy or neutralize militants and their ideological inspirers, wherever they may be hiding. One must also destroy their infrastructure and block all channels of financial support to terrorism.
“Russia is ready for the closest cooperation with France and other international partners in all areas of anti-terrorist activities,” Putin added..
Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov also commented on the tragedy in France.
“Russia remains in solidarity with the people of France these days. We fully share the pain in connection with the death of so many people, including possibly children. Russia knows very well what terrorism is, and we intend to do everything possible that the Russian side can do to continue the struggle against terrorism in all of its forms, to which there is no justification whatsoever,” Peskov said.
On July 14, a terrorist attack occurred in Nice. A truck rammed into the crowd of people on the Promenade des Anglais during the celebration of Bastille Day. As a result of the attack more than 80 people were killed and dozens were injured.
