During a meeting with ambassadors of G7, the president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko urged these countries to extend sanctions against Russia in connection with the failure of the Minsk agreements, as reported on the website of the President.
Poroshenko also stressed that Russia bears full responsibility for the escalation of the conflict in the Donbass.
According to the Ukrainian source, “The ambassadors of the G7 were provided with comprehensive facts of violations on the part of Russia, the presence of Russian troops in the occupied Donbass, and continuation of arms sales from Russia to the occupied territories.”
Poroshenko says that sanctions will encourage Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements. He also called on the diplomats of G7 to support the initiative of introduction of the OSCE armed police mission in the Donbass.
The Ukrainian president appealed to the ambassadors of the “big seven” to increase pressure on Russia regarding the immediate release of Nadiya Savchenko and other Ukrainian prisoners in Russia.
