Previously Boris Dubrovsky has sent an official letter to the producer of Leonardo DiCaprio asking the actor to become the face of tourism in the region.
The Governor of the Chelyabinsk region Boris Dubrovsky congratulated Leonardo DiCaprio with prestigious film award. He invited the actor to have a rest in the region and personally ensured him that there was no danger to ecology there.
According to the text of the letter, Chelyabinsk region congratulates Leonardo Di Caprio with a long-awaited step in his career – the Academy Award, or “Oscar“, in the nomination “Best actor in a Leading Role” for his work in the film of Alejandro G. Iñárritu “The Revenant”. He also added that his Russian fans were sincerely happy for him.
TASS News Agency reports that governor’s proposal to visit Chelyabinsk region remains in force. Boris Dubrovsky claims that Di Caprio can see “how the Urals and whole Russia is changing.”
Earlier, he sent an official letter to the producer of Leonardo DiCaprio asking the actor to become the face of tourism in the region. The idea of invitation appeared after a controversial post of Di Caprio in the social network. He posted a photo of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works with a story about fishermen who were catching fish in an allegedly very polluted river. According to him, the fishermen knew that the river was polluted but still sold fish at the market.
Dubrovsky explained to the actor that the picture was taken 22 years ago. Now the emissions of harmful substances into the environment are substantially reduced thanks to the most modern technologies, despite the fact that the plant works in full force. The governor also invited DiCaprio to go skiing, fishing and promised to show him the lakes Turgoyak and Zyuratkul and the place of falling of the Chelyabinsk meteorite.
