President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the introduction of a visa-free regime between EU and Ukraine might be postponed, “RIA Novosti” reported. Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada have not drafted the necessary legislation for visa-free regime.
“There is just one more day, even night, for the adoption of the laws that can open the door to citizens of Ukraine for visa-free travel to EU countries… If today during the voting in the session hall these laws are not passed, the introduction of a visa-free regime will be delayed,” Poroshenko told the deputies of the Parliament.
To obtain a visa-free regime, the Ukrainian authorities had to strengthen the fight against corruption, carry out reforms at the border and introduce new biometric identity documents according to European standards.
