Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov commented on the previous allegations of Angela Merkel about victims of Russian Air Forces in Syria and added that such statements had been repeatedly made before. However, there is still no evidence of any victims left after the Russian airstrikes. Peskov called for “being very careful and responsible to use any interpretation” on the situation in Syria.
“There is still no evidence that Syrian civilians are suffering from Russian airstrikes,” Kremlin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said after accusatory statements of Angela Merkel.
After talks between German chancellor and Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Merkel said that she was “horrified by tens of thousands of people suffering from the bombings, primarily from the Russian ones.”
“As for the words of the chancellor on the alleged casualties after the Russian airstrikes in Syria, we should pay attention to the fact that, despite the huge number of such statements, nobody has provided any credible confirmation of these words,” Peskov said.
He also recalled the situation in Syria two or three years ago. According to Peskov, nobody made such statements against terrorists “who were occupying Syrian territory, effectively encircling the Syrian armed forces and the legitimate government in Syria.”
