The official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov reported today that the Russian and Syrian military prevented an attempt of ISIS terrorists to seize the city of Deir ez-Zor.

The bombers Tu-22M3 destroyed 23 important goals of the terrorists in the area. As a result, the terrorists failed to capture Deir ez-Zor. “The aircrafts of long-range bomber aviation provided support to the units of the Syrian government troops which were defending the city,” the official representative of the Ministry said.

Igor Konashenkov added that Russian aircraft were conducting all strikes only on pre-explored and confirmed targets. The coordinates of the Daesh objects were received from the information center in Baghdad, the troops of the Syrian government and the patriotic opposition.  Earlier, the reconnaissance of the territory of the Middle East region was intensified. “It allows us to discover new targets of the mercenaries and defeat them in regime of real time,” Konashenkov said.
