North Korea should not give up nuclear capabilities: Pundit

Published on

For North Korea, remaining nuclear-capable amounts to resistance against the storm of threats coming from Washington, says a commentator.

That is what Marcus Papadopoulos, publisher and editor of the Politics First, believes.

He told Press TV on Wednesday that given the fact that the United States attacked Libya after Muammar Gaddafi relinquished nuclear weapons, North Korea should not give up its nuclear capabilities.

President Donald Trump of the United States and North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un are in the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi, to discuss North Korean denuclearization among other matters.

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said North Korea remains a nuclear threat.

“America has never militarily attacked a country which has nuclear weapons,” Papadopoulos said.

“America has never directly interfered in the internal affairs of a country with the objective of overthrowing the government of that country which has nuclear weapons.”

North Korea's nuclear weapons, he added, are the “ultimate guarantee” of its sovereignty assuring that the US will not militarily attack the country.

“There is no reason for why North Korea should give up its nuclear weapons given the behavior of America on the international stage.”
