Berlin police have been filmed savagely beating a black man because of a “suspected bicycle theft” in Kreuzberg on Thursday.

Footage shows police violently pinning the unarmed man to the ground and proceeding to beat him up, with one officer taking out his gun. Locals and passers-by were pepper-sprayed when they tried to stop the violence by shouting and throwing projectiles towards the police. Police have reportedly called the public's reaction “violent resistance.”
