A considerable part of Iran’s economy is either directly or indirectly related to products and services that come from rural areas, namely villages and nomadic regions. However, some consider the sector as the unknown side of Iran’s economy. Now, Tehran is conducting a wide scale survey to obtain figures on the turnover in rural economy; a market that could play a big role in helping Iran relieve itself from an oil based economy.
