Iran climbs two places in latest FIDE rankings, still third-ranked in Asia

The Islamic Republic of Iran has climbed two positions in the latest edition of the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) rankings to land in the 28th spot in the world, and maintained its place as the third greatest country in Asia.

According to the latest rankings released by the international organization that connects the various national chess federations around the world and acts as the governing body of international chess competition, Iran accumulated 2,540 points on average.

Other Asian teams include China, which has collected 2,709 points to remain unchanged in the second global slot of FIDE rankings.

India has garnered 2,675 points to land in the 5th world spot and be named the continental runner-up.

Russia stays at the top of the world chart, having collected 2,747 points.

The United States of America has earned 2,696 points to claim the third position, while fourth-placed Ukraine has notched up 2,681 points.

Azerbaijan has stood sixth in the world rankings with 2,663 points.
