A Russian-Thai intergovernmental commission is set to convene by the end of this year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Thursday after talks with his counterpart in Bangkok.
The ministers emphasized a rise in Russian tourists coming to this Southeast Asian nation. Their number will soon reach the 1.6 million milestone, Lavrov added.
“We have agreed to call a meeting of the intergovernmental commission by the end of the year… Working groups on agriculture and tourism will convene in the run-up to this meeting,” he said.
The Russian minister spoke positively about the levels of mutual investment and raised the topic of military-technical cooperation between the nations. A working group will meet later this year to hold further discussions.
