As the US diplomatic mission said, Russia’s allegations that the American government is barring Moscow from observing the election are “simply unfounded”

The US Embassy in Moscow has received the Russian Foreign Ministry’s note over restricted access for Russian diplomats to US polling stations, a source in the diplomatic mission has confirmed.

The American embassy’s representative, Maria Olson, has stressed that the US government considers Russia’s allegations as “groundless.”

“We received an October 26 MFA dipnote about election observation,” she said.

As the US diplomatic mission said, “Russian assertions that they the U.S. government is barring them from observing the elections are simply unfounded.”

The diplomatic note has been agreed with the Kremlin, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has also confirmed.

“Do you consider as possible a situation when the Foreign Ministry does something that is not agreed with the head of state?” the Kremlin spokesman said in response to a question about whether the note dispatch had been agreed with the Russian president.

At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman declined to elaborate on the issue because in his view further comments should be provided by the Foreign Ministry.
