Black lists of football fans to be made for 2018 World Cup: Russian Deputy Prime Minister

Published on

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia announced a possible ban on entry into the country for lawbreakers.

“It is necessary to create black lists of fans-hooligans so that they could not enter Russia during the 2018 World Cup,” Deputy Prime Minister, Arkady Dvorkovich, stated at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

According to him, “black lists should be made. Those who violate the law should not be allowed to enter the country and attend the matches. This applies to all fans, both Russian and foreign”.

Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russian fans involved in the riots in France could be prosecuted in Russia in full accordance with the law. But first, their guilt should be proven.

Dvorkovich also stressed that the abolition of visa-free regime to Russia for soccer fans “is out of question”. Russia will not deny this oligation.

Since the beginning of the European championship in France, which will end 10 July, there have been some scuffles between football fans. The biggest one was between fans from Russia and England in Marseille, during which about 30 people were injured.

UEFA fined the Russian Football Union for €150 thousand and imposed a deferred disqualification for the team after the riots between Russian and English fans during the match on June 11.

The 2018 world Cup is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July. It will be held at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg, Saransk, Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Kazan and Sochi.
