The attempt of President Barack Obama to isolate Russia has failed, the head of the Duma Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Pushkov, said at the plenary session of the State Duma.
According to the deputy, the last two years have become a real challenge for Russian diplomacy and foreign policy as a whole, but it ended. The main sign that hard times are behind us is the failure of Obama’s policy of Russia’s isolation.
Pushkov recalled that in January 2015 the US President stated that, thanks to the United States, Russia found itself in international isolation and its economy was “in tatters”. Pushkov believes that the isolation lasted less than a year. This fact became obvious in September 2015, when Putin came to New York for the UN General Assembly where he met Barack Obama. It was clear that the world needed Russia, the deputy stated.
