“The Russian authorities intend to take countermeasures in connection with the increasing number of US warships in the Black sea which are participating in NATO military exercises,”  a member of State Duma’s Defense Committee, Andrey Krasov, said on Friday.

According to him, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will take all efforts to ensure the country’s security in the Black Sea region. In addition, Russia can organize its naval exercises with the use of aviation and ground forces.

“In response to the presence of the military fleet of NATO in the Black Sea, Russia can conduct its exercises,” Krasov said.

“He says that the exercise can attrack friendly countries to participate, which already have experience of cooperation within the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO),” the Federal Agency of political news reports.

On June 6  the US destroyer Porter entered the waters of the Black Sea to maintain security during military exercises “Atlantic Resolve”. It is assumed that the ship will visit several ports of the countries – members of NATO.
