The Iranian parliament demanded from the government to force the United States to get the compensation for anti-Iranian actions.
The majority of the Iranian parliament voted for the adoption of appeal to the government with a demand to make the U.S. pay compensation for material and moral damage that Iran suffered during American intervention in the domestic affairs of the country. Among the negative consequences of U.S. intervention, politicians consider the coup of 19 August, 1953, which resulted in deposition of Mohammed Mosaddegh who sought to nationalize the oil and gas sector of the country.
The United States were also accused of the organization of the coup “Nuzhe” when in 1980 the Iranian military overthrew the government of President Abolhasan of Banisadr and the Supreme leader of Iran Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini. Iran also wants to receive compensation from the United States for the Iran-Iraq war 1980-1988.
The Iranian Parliament has taken this step after the refusal of the Supreme court of the United States to return to the Central Bank of Iran two billion dollars of frozen Iranian assets. According to the court, this amount should be paid to the American families whose relatives were killed in an explosion in Beirut in 1983, as well as in other attacks.
