On Wednesday the President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with king of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in order “to explain the meaning of the proposals which had been put forward in the joint statement of Russia and the USA on settlement in Syria,” according to the Kremlin website.
“The King of Saudi Arabia welcomed the agreements reached and expressed readiness for joint work to implement them,” it was stated in the message.
It is noted that the leaders agreed to continue contacts on this issue.
Earlier, the presidents of Russia and the United States adopted the declaration of truce in Syria which will come into force on February 27. According to the agreement, the parties announced the establishment of truce in the Syrian Arab Republic. The ceasefire does not apply to the terrorist organizations “Islamic state” and “Jabhat al-Nusra”.
