Representatives of the Russian Federation and the USA will hold the first meeting of the task force on the cessation of violence in Syria, Reuters reports referring to the official representative of the German Foreing Ministry Martin Schäfer.
“We are expecting that the first meeting of the special group on ceasefire will take place today afternoon in Geneva. The chairmen of the meeting are the representatives from Russia and U.S.,” Schäfer said.
“We know that intensive negotiations are being held. We are expecting that some progress will be made. Germany will also take part in the meeting. That may lead to an agreement on a significant reduction of violence level between all the participants of Vienna talks,” the German representative noted.
He also reported that Russian and American represenatives had met on Friday, to prepare for a wider discussion with other parties.
