The details of the October visit of the German chancellor to London and its behind the scenes part were told by the British newspaper “The Times”. In the country residence of British Prime Minister David Cameron, Angela Merkel met with the heads of MI5 and MI6 Andrew Parker and Alex Younger, as well as with the head of the Government Communications Headquarters Robert Hanniganom.

“The leader of Germany shared the information about the president of Russia Putin, instability in Ukraine and the situation in the Crimea”,  the newspaper reports. But what information specifically is unknown.

In turn, Merkel was provided with data on the threat posed by the militants of ISIS. According to the newspaper, this data was very informative.

“They had a long discussion on Syria and Russia”, the “Times” said, siting the source in the Cameron office.

According to journalists, such meetings, when the leader of one country and the British security services are directly supplying each other with information, are extremely rare.  Also, Germany is not a member of the so-called “Fifth eye” alliance of special services, which includes Britain, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
