The chairman of the party Selahattin Demirtaş says that Turkish opposition party does not adhere to the position of spoiling relations with its neighbour. According to him, the Russian-Turkish relations are very important. Also, during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov he stressed the importance of the relations with Russia in such a difficult period.
‘Right now, we are experiencing an exacerbation of the Russian-Turkish relations during the time when we have to look for very important decisions in Middle East. We are representing a political party which is fighting for pluralism in the country. We attach great importance to the Russian-Turkish relations and we are sorry for the situation which caused deterioration of the relationship between our countries,’ Demirtaş said during his meeting with Lavrov.
‘As an opposition party, we immediately declared our position of friendly relations with our neighbour. We openly stated and criticized the government’s actions after the Russian air craft had been shot down by Turkish military,’ he added.
