A boxer Roy Jones Jr. received a Russian passport. He finally became a citizen of Russia. He said that he was very happy to become Russian.
American boxer Roy Jones received a Russian passport from the hands of Gennady Demyanchenko, the Deputy Head of the Federal Migration Service on issues of citizenship.
The decree on granting of Russian citizenship to Roy Jones was signed by the President Vladimir Putin 12 September. The producer of the boxer Vladimir Hryunov, who attended the ceremony, told reporters that it was ‘a real feast for the Russian state.”
‘We are delighted with the fact that he will play for Russia,’ Hryunov said.
Jones himself confirmed the words of the producer, adding that he loves Russia and is going to live here.
‘That is a very big step for me. I am very happy that now I come to Russia as a citizen of this country. Russia is a great country, and great people live here. I am Russian,’ Jones said.
