US attempts to impose on the world its principles of political games inevitably lead to increase of world chaos, and in these conditions Russia will continue to pursue its independent policy meeting its national interests. That was stated by the Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his speech in the State Duma.
Lavrov told the Duma members that Russian President Vladimir Putin personally had informed his American counterpart about the upcoming Russian air strikes on the positions of the terrorists in Syria. It happened during their meeting in the UN General Assembly in New York. ‘In response, the US president said that they had expected this,’ the head of the Foreign Ministry told.
Deputies were interested in the response of the U.S. government to the Russian proposal to send a delegation to Washington, to discuss the situation in Syria. ‘The U.S. response was received, our proposal was rejected’, Lavrov reported.
In response, the U.S. pointed out that the only thing the United States were interested in was ‘to agree upon the steps that would avoid incidents’. ‘It’s a shame as it is extremely important that our military, as well as the U.S. military pilots, understand who does what, to avoid any sort of accident’ the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Anyway, the above-mentioned agreement on measures to prevent incidents in the airspace of Syria must start work in the nearest future. According to the minister, ‘we are ready to sit down and continue to negotiate, where the terrorists are, in your opinion, where the terrorists are, in our opinion. However, it is possible only if you work honestly,’ the minister said.
Lavrov strongly criticized the policies of the Western leadership and especially of the United States. According to him, Russia regrets that the United States preferred to pursue a policy of ensuring its global leadership. We should stop the use of the UN platform by the West only for its interests. ‘No one is obliged to accept any model of development, which is declared by someone as the only true,’ the minister said.
