NATO’s growing influence in Georgia

Published on

NATO deployed the training center in Georgia. The Russian foreign Ministry called it a provocation. Russia considers the opening of Georgian-NATO training centre as another provocative step in the policy of the Alliance, aimed at destabilizing the situation in the region.

“We regard this step as a continuation of the provocative policy of the Alliance, which is aimed at expanding its geopolitical influence, often using the resources of the partner countries”, – said the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova at the briefing.

“In addition, the location of such military object of the Alliance in Georgia will become a serious destabilizing factor for the security in the region,” she added.

“Those who continue to drag Tbilisi into NATO, should realize the extent of responsibility, of course, referring dramatic experience of 2008”, – said Zakharov.

According to the official representative of the foreign Ministry, “Russia will continue to comply with international obligations to ensure reliable security of its allies – the Republic of South Ossetia and Republic of Abkhazia”.
