The representative of the Prosecutor General of the Netherlands, Wim de Bruin notes that investigators still believe that flight MH17 was shot down by a missile “earth-air”. He stressed that the criminal investigation is still going.

International investigators believe that it is most likely the Malaysian Boeing was shot down over Eastern Ukraine by a missile “earth-air”, but the version of the attack from interseptor with “air-air” missile is still possible, told the representative of the Prosecutor General of the Netherlands, Wim de Bruin.

At the same time, The Netherlands refused to declassify the documents on the crash of MH17. In the Netherlands simultaneously two investigations of the crash are going. The first is technical — is conducted under the authority of the security Council of the Netherlands and is focused on the elucidation of the causes of the crash. Russia takes part in this investigation. Second — criminal — is conducted by international investigation team, which includes Malaysia, the Netherlands, Australia, Belgium and Ukraine. The purpose of this investigation is the identification of the guilty persons for the tragedy.
“The international investigation team focused on several scenarios. The most likely is one in which the plane was shot down by a missile from the ground. However, there are other scenarios that cannot be ruled out, such as a  “air-air” attack, — said the representative.

Brune emphasized that a criminal investigation is still ongoing.

In September the Netherlands published a preliminary report on the accident, confirming that the plane broke up in flight due to “structural damage caused by external impact of multiple high-energy objects”. However, the source of these objects has not been noticed. The final report of the security Council of the Netherlands on the causes of the crash will be published in the first half of October 2015.
