Cleveland police murder 12-year-old Tamir Rice – “Fists Up! Fight Back!”

Published on

UHURU NEWS–Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old African boy, was shot and killed by Cleveland cops who were responding to a 911 call about a “juvenile” scaring people at the park with a gun that was “probably fake,” a local news network reported.
Tamir, described by his father, Gregory Henderson, as artistic, smart and mannerable, was shot just outside the Cudell Commons recreational center on Saturday, November 22, 2014. He died from his gunshot wounds the next day.
Tamir’s murder comes at a time when working class Africans in Ferguson, MO have commanded worldwide attention, after rising up in fierce and sustained rebellions in response to the murder of 18-year-old Mike Brown, an unarmed African shot to death by Ferguson cop Darren Wilson.
All eyes are on Ferguson as we organize “Next Day mobilizations,” called for at the Black Is Back Coalition for Social Justice, Peace and Reparations (BIBC) “Peace Through Revolution” rally held in D.C., November 1-2, 2014.
BIBC is calling for every organization and every individual who wants social justice and peace, for everybody, to “fill the streets,” on the day after the grand jury announces its decision around indicting Wilson for the first degree murder of Mike Brown.
Tamir’s murder, along with Akai Gurley’s murder—Akai was an unarmed 28-year-old African shot dead by New York cops in a Brooklyn housing complex, three days before Tamir was killed—Mike Brown and Eric Garner’s murders and the murders of all the Africans killed by cops or related agencies, every 26 hours in the U.S., demand that we organize these “Fists Up! Fight Back!” mobilizations the day after the grand jury announcement in Ferguson, as a necessary first step to stop cops from killing us as we demand black community control of the police.
“Next Day” demonstrations will take place across the country whether the grand jury indicts Wilson for first degree murder or not.
The most profound comment Tamir’s father made came when he said “The police know what they’re doing.” He’s right. Like Malcolm X said nearly 50 years ago, “As long as they’ve been doing it, they’re experts at it.”
The cops who killed Tamir are currently on paid vacation pending “investigation.”
